On the 10th of December 2018, Dr. Dennis Mukwege won the Nobel Peace Price for his efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. His hospital Panzi is located in Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province, where also KIYO partners AVREO and OCET are doing incredible work with regards to ending sexual violence. Eastern DR Congo has been wracked by more than two decades of conflict, with numerous armed groups battling for control of the region's rich deposits of gold and other precious minerals.

KIYO congratulates Denis Mukwege for his courageous work addressing sexual violence in conflict. Together with our partners AVREO and OCET we will continue to stand up for the children and youth victims of sexual violence.
