KIYO winter concert 2023

We look back on a magical evening with children and youth at the center.

On Friday 1 December 2023 we organised our very first winter concert and it was a great success! The Sint-Norbertuskerk on the Dageraadplaats in Antwerp Belgium was the setting for our concert that aimed to connect people and highlight the importance of investing in children and youth today.

With over 300 attendees, the KIYO team and a group of wonderful artists who put their best foot forward for KIYO, the church was certainly filled with a lively atmosphere. We started off the evening strong with a performance on the Organ by Emmanuel Van Kerckhoven, followed by a solo performance from opera singer Astrid Stockman. Astrid told us the beautiful stories behind the songs that she brought.

These performances where followed by an intermezzo. Moha & Akram, students from 'De Stemstroom' and former participants of KIYO’s Action4Rights project, talked with our lovely host for the night, Lien Van de Kelder, about their experiences with KIYO and their personal empowerment journeys.

The sister trio “Finches”, former contestants from The Voice Belgium, where next to grace the stage with their harmonious voices. We had another Intermezzo moment with KIYO’s youngest board member Lauria Gatoni who read out her original poem by called “Aangenaam”.

The evening festivities where closed off by a heartfelt performance from the children’s choir from the 'Het Hinkelpad' school under the guidance of Geert Vanderoost. One song was about giving the earth to the children and one about writing the names of our beloved ones on the wall. Together we sang the climate song from Nic Balthazar setting youth empowerment and the right to a healthy living environment in the forefront!

💚Thank you all for the support! Till the next KIYO event!
