Global Youth Sounding board October report

The Global Youth Sounding Board (GYSB) was created in October 2021 to share ideas and experiences within KIYO from the youth in our partner countries. Here’s what they had to say for their last meeting in October.

Meet Beatriz

AMAR is one of KIYO’s partners in Brazil that focuses on creating decent work opportunities for youth. Together, we empower youth through technical courses that enable them to become self-employed or enter the job market. Similarly, Beatriz took a course on installing solar panels at AMAR. Wondering what her experience was like?

Action4Rights

With our Action4Rights project, KIYO became one of the lucky beneficiaries of the Queen Mathilde Fund! Every year, this fund supports a number of initiatives in Belgium in which children and young people play a central role. In order to win the big prize of the Queen Mathilde Fund, Akram and Moha pitched the project in front of a youth jury in March.

Global Youth Sounding Board February Report

The Global Youth Sounding Board (GYSB) was created in October 2021 to share ideas and experiences within KIYO from the youth in our partner countries: Belgium, Brazil, Burundi, DR Congo and the Philippines. Here’s what they had to say for their last meeting in February!

Global Youth Sounding Board November Report

KIYO's Global Youth Sounding Board (GYSB) connects youth from youth organisations from no less than five countries around the world: Belgium, Burundi, Brazil, DR Congo, and the Philippines. This provides the youth with opportunities to address important themes in their youth work and exchange their experiences with each other. Since the launch of the GYSB in October 2021, these youth have already met twice and, in what follows, are some key points from their second meeting.

Youth Voices

On the 11th of June 2022 KIYO organises a fundraiser: YOUTH VOICES. You are all invited to join us for a refreshing evening full of music, talks, food and above all: youth spirit.

Update about our partners in the Philippines after typhoon

Message from Weng of our partner CLB: "Our situation in Cebu is really difficult after typhoon Odette came - no electricity, water, battery, ATM (all offline). If there is a bank open, you have to line up very early in the morning. The electricity posts were all down especially in the area where the CLB office is located. Even the bakery was closed because it did not have water. All prices of commodities rose up. The candles are now out-of-stock, we improved our lamp using used oil and salt. We do not know how long this situation will continue.”

Youth voices from Brazil

My name is Alexsandro, but you can call me Ali. I am 18 years old and I live in Rio de Janeiro with my mother, sister and stepfather. Five years ago, something very important happened to me: I got to know Se Essa Rua Fosse Minha (SER). SER is a partner of KIYO. They want to give voice to youth through circus lessons. And that is what changed my life: I started with circus and discovered my own voice, my own dreams and my own work. I learned everything at SER!
